TalentLink have been retained to recruit a Head of Payroll for this leading internationally renowned blue-chip brand. 
  
The Role:
This high-profile role oversees the Payroll Delivery and Project Teams and will suit a senior payroll professional with significant project implementation experience.   You will be a key member of the leadership team, reporting into the Head of Remuneration and Benefits, with a team of over 15+ professionals across payroll delivery and project activities. 
  
Operating under a mix of fortnightly and monthly payroll cycles (with extensive coverage by multiple Enterprise Agreements and Modern Awards), this role delivers accurate, compliant, and timely end-to-end payroll services to a workforce of over 8,000 employees.
  
In addition to overseeing payroll operations, this position has a true project management focus on Payroll System implementation - ensuring Australian payroll compliance and operational requirements are embedded in system design, implementation, and transition.
  
Duties include:
  • Oversee national payroll operations, for 8,000+ across fortnightly and monthly pay cycles.
  • Support the Payroll Leader, coach, and develop the payroll team in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
  • Maintaining strong payroll controls, governance frameworks, and managing financial/compliance risk and audits.
  • Payroll reporting and analysis on metrics, and statutory reporting obligation.
  • Monitor legislative, ATO, and Fair Work developments impacting payroll operations.
  • Interpretation of multiple complex Enterprise Agreements and Modern Awards.
  • Business Owner and project lead for the HR and Payroll System Transformation program and implementation.
  • Partner with key executive leaders, department leads and external vendors in project delivery.
  • Lead a team of payroll project specialists to define functional and technical system specifications.
  • Plan and deliver system updates, enhancements, and configuration changes.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and risk management across the payroll function.
  
The Candidate:
This position requires an experienced and accomplished Payroll Manager with a strong background in Payroll System Transformation and exceptional stakeholder management skills.  

 
Essential requirements include:
  

  • Extensive experience managing payroll in a large Australian organisation (5,000+ employees).
  • Demonstrated expertise with complex multiple EBAs and Modern Awards.
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and ATO reporting obligations.
  • Proven people centric leadership style experience managing large teams of 10+.
  • Significant project management and implementation experience.
  • Build effective relationships with key stakeholder and able to work collaboratively with internal and third-party vendors to deliver key projects.
  • Resilience under critical deadlines, high ethical standards and confidentiality.
