Managed Network Security Team Lead Hands-on Leadership | Palo Alto | Juniper | Managed Services Environment

We are looking for a hands-on Managed Network Security Team Lead to oversee a team of 6–8 network and security engineers delivering critical managed network services for enterprise customers.

This role is ideal for a senior engineer from an MSP or managed services environment who is ready to step into leadership while remaining highly technical.

You will act as the primary escalation point for complex network and security incidents, lead operational excellence across the team, and help drive improvements in service delivery, incident response and infrastructure reliability.

The Role You will lead a team responsible for supporting and maintaining multi-vendor enterprise network and security environments across a portfolio of managed services customers.

Your role will combine technical leadership, operational oversight and hands-on engineering, ensuring the team delivers high-quality support across routing, switching, firewalls and network security platforms.
You will also work closely with customers and internal teams to ensure incidents are resolved quickly, root causes are identified and services continue to improve.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of 6–8 Managed Network & Security Engineers
  • Act as the technical escalation point for major incidents and complex troubleshooting
  • Maintain high service standards across 24/7 managed network operations
  • Drive improvements in incident management, problem management and operational processes
  • Provide hands-on technical support across network and security platforms
  • Coordinate major incident response and technical war rooms
  • Ensure adherence to SLA and service delivery commitments
  • Work closely with architecture and engineering teams on service improvements
  • Support continuous improvement across monitoring, automation and operational tooling
Technical Environment You will be working across large enterprise environments including:
  • Palo Alto Networks Firewalls
  • Juniper Routing & Switching
  • Enterprise network security platforms
  • MPLS / WAN / SD-WAN environments
  • Data centre and hybrid cloud networking
  • Multi-tenant managed network environments
Required Experience
  • Strong background working in a Managed Services / MSP / NOC / SOC environment
  • Experience leading or mentoring network engineers
  • Deep expertise across Palo Alto and Juniper technologies
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across routing, switching and firewall technologies
  • Experience acting as an escalation point for major incidents
  • Solid understanding of ITIL service management frameworks
  • Ability to operate effectively in high-pressure operational environments
Certifications (Highly Regarded) One or more of the following:
  • PCNSE – Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer
  • PCNSA – Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator
  • JNCIP-SEC – Juniper Networks Certified Professional Security
  • JNCIS-SEC – Juniper Networks Certified Specialist Security
  • JNCIP-ENT – Juniper Enterprise Routing & Switching
  • CCNP Security / CCNP Enterprise (or equivalent)
