We are seeking a driven and technically strong Assistant Financial Controller to join a dynamic finance team. This pivotal role supports the Financial Controller and CFO in managing financial operations, ensuring robust financial control, and delivering timely, accurate reporting. You’ll play a key part in maintaining the integrity of financial systems, driving process improvements and leading both onshore and offshore teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards for Australia and New Zealand.
- Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, journals, cashflow reconciliations.
- Preparation of financial, tax compliance (GST, FBT, Income Tax), and statutory reporting.
- Collaborate with the Financial Controller and senior finance leaders on external audits.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline accounting processes and enhance automation.
- Mentor and develop onshore and offshore finance team members.
- Get involved in exciting projects — from system improvements to acquisition integrations.
- CPA or CA qualification (or near completion).
- 5-7+ years’ experience ideally from either Big 4 or 2nd tier chartered or ASX background.
- Strong technical accounting and tax knowledge essential.
- Experience managing offshore or outsourced finance teams is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication abilities.
