Senior Manager - IT PMO Assurance

Brisbane | Permanent | Senior Leadership Role

We're seeking an experienced Senior Manager - IT PMO Assurance to play a critical role in strengthening portfolio governance, delivery assurance and investment confidence across a large, complex technology environment.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy, governance, risk and delivery, and who can provide trusted assurance to executive stakeholders on the health, value and outcomes of major technology initiatives.

The opportunity

Reporting into a senior technology leader, you will lead the assurance function across the IT change portfolio, ensuring initiatives are well-governed, benefits-driven and aligned to organisational strategy. You'll work closely with executives, delivery leaders and assurance partners to provide clear insight, challenge and guidance across the full project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
  • Lead portfolio-level IT PMO assurance and governance, providing independent oversight of major programs and projects
  • Establish and embed assurance frameworks covering investment, delivery, benefits realisation, risk and controls
  • Provide executive-level reporting and insights on portfolio health, delivery confidence and strategic alignment
  • Review business cases, delivery plans and investment proposals to ensure robustness and value for money
  • Partner with delivery teams to uplift PMO maturity, standards and capability
  • Identify systemic risks, delivery issues and improvement opportunities across the change portfolio
  • Engage senior stakeholders with clarity, credibility and influence — acting as a trusted advisor
  • Lead and mentor PMO / assurance practitioners, fostering a high-performance, outcomes-focused culture
What you'll bring
  • Significant experience in senior PMO, portfolio governance or IT assurance leadership roles
  • Strong understanding of complex IT delivery environments (enterprise, regulated or multi-stakeholder settings)
  • Demonstrated experience providing assurance on large, high-risk or high-value programs
  • Deep knowledge of project, portfolio and assurance frameworks (e.g. MSP, P3M3, PRINCE2, Agile at scale, COBIT, ITIL or similar)
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with confidence engaging at executive and board level
  • Ability to balance challenge with collaboration — influencing outcomes without owning delivery
  • Strong analytical, reporting and communication skills, with the ability to translate complexity into insight
