Currently in growth mode, last year’s turnover was $60m, with the company on target to more than double that figure this year.
The Role:
With an established reputation for high-end residential and commercial projects and a strong pipeline of work, they continue to go from strength to strength.
Due to this growth, they are keen to appoint a hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead its Australian financial operations.
Reporting to the CEO (a commercially astute and supportive mentor), this position requires a CFO who is adept at financial management, team leadership providing direction and management to all aspects of the Finance function, overseeing Australian Financials.

Key Responsibilities include:
- Control of financial operations for a multi entity environment.
- Job Costing/Financial Control. Monitoring project profitability, accurate job costing, controlling costs to prevent overruns.
- Cash Flow. Managing complex payment cycles to ensure liquidity for payroll, subcontractors, and materials.
- Forecasting & Budgeting. Developing company-wide budgets and long-term forecasts.
- Risk Management. Evaluating financial risks associated with projects, managing insurance, maintaining relationships with external stakholders.
- Financial Reporting and Compliance. Overseeing GAAP-compliant financial statements, tax compliance, providing analytics to senior leadership.
- Strategic Growth & Analysis. Analyzing investment opportunities, acquisitions, company expansion.
- QBCC & Trust Account Compliance. Compliance with QBCC requirements etc.
- Leadership and Process Management. Lead, manage and mentor the Brisbane HQ financial team.
About You:
To be considered for this position you will be a well-rounded senior finance professional with either a strong background as a Financial Controller and ready for the step-up, or hands-on CFO with a track record of successful financial management of a business while in a growth cycle.
Ideally you should:
- Be CA/CPA qualified with at least 5 years spent as a Financial Controller or CFO.
- Bring a commercial mindset with experience in overseeing an effective finance team.
- Be a hands-on leader with strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Have a strong financial and accounting background with an in-depth understanding of accounting practices, regulatory issues and tax legislations.
- Have a background in Property, Development or Construction (this would be highly regarded by the client).
